Anitta Crowned Queen of Grande Rio Samba School for Carnaval 2027

Anitta, the celebrated Brazilian singer, has been officially announced as the queen of the Grande Rio samba school for the Carnaval 2027 parade. The announcement came through social media, with both Anitta and the samba school confirming her new role. Known for her musical versatility and cultural influence, Anitta expressed a deep connection to the parade's theme and a strong respect for the cultural and historical significance of Carnaval.

The 2027 Grande Rio parade will focus on the theme "Sankofa Tabon – Os Retornados da Costa do Ouro e a Estrela Negra da Liberdade," highlighting the journeys of freed Africans returning to their homeland, particularly exploring the historical importance of the Costa do Ouro region, present-day Ghana, the first Sub-Saharan African nation to gain independence.

Anitta's role as queen of the bateria is historically notable—she will be the first queen to compose her own samba-enredo for the parade. The samba composition is set to explore themes of faith and ancestry, intricately aligning with her latest album, "Equilibrivm." The final samba selection is scheduled for September 20, setting the stage for an innovative performance.

She received advice and support from former Grande Rio queen Paolla Oliveira, with whom she shares a collaborative and non-competitive relationship.
