Bauru Gears Up for 22nd National Science and Technology Week with Focus on Ocean Culture and Climate Change

Bauru is set to host the 22nd National Science and Technology Week (SNCT) from October 21 to 24, 2025, with activities extending to nearby municipalities Boraceia, Lençóis Paulista, and Pederneiras. The event is supported by a R$ 40,000 fund from the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development. The theme, “Planet Water: Ocean Culture to Face Climate Change in My Territory,” aims to engage the public in critical reflection on the freshwater cycle and its impact on the ocean, highlighting the region’s river resources that feed into the Tietê-Paraná Hydrographic Basin.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for October 21 at 10:30 AM at the Centro de Inovação Tecnológica (CIT). On October 24, the “Festa da Ciência” will take place from 8 AM to 5 PM at Recinto Mello Moraes, featuring various scientific and citizen education projects. This event will include support from local institutions such as Fatec - Bauru, Lions, Ascam, Etec-Bauru, and the Toledo Teaching Institution (ITE), and offers free entry to the public.

The initiative, organized by the Prefeitura de Bauru’s Secretaria de Desenvolvimento Econômico, Turismo e Inovação (Sedecon), underscores the importance of science outreach and environmental awareness in the central-western region of São Paulo.
