In a recent interview on the program Café com Notícias, endocrinologist Dr. Silvana Teixeira emphasized the critical importance of diabetes prevention and control. She outlined common diabetes symptoms such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, swelling, redness, and foot sensitivity, warning that delayed diagnosis could lead to serious complications including amputations. Dr. Teixeira stressed that maintaining controlled diabetes is essential for a good quality of life and highlighted the role of healthy eating and regular exercise in both preventing and managing the disease.

She particularly discouraged consumption of sugar and alcohol, advocating instead for a diet rich in meats, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains while avoiding processed foods and white flour.
