Brazil Advances Digital Culture and Robotics in Education with Dia D da Tecnologia and National Robotics Olympiad

On August 14 and 15, Brazilian students will engage in significant technology-driven educational events promoting digital culture and STEM learning. Espírito Santo's public school network will participate in Dia D da Tecnologia, a state-wide initiative established in 2019 to enhance the pedagogical use of digital technologies. This year, the program highlights the theme "Women in Science" across 110 Schools of the Future, aiming to showcase female contributions to science and technology and encourage girls' participation. Activities include workshops, interactive exhibitions, and projects using STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) methodologies to foster creativity and student agency. State Education Secretary Andréa Guzzo emphasized the initiative's role in integrating technology into education: "The Dia D da Tecnologia reinforces that digital culture is already part of the learning process and can be intentionally used to enhance research, creation, and problem-solving capabilities." Meanwhile, the Brazilian Robotics Olympiad (OBR) regional stage will take place in Adamantina, São Paulo, featuring students from Espírito Santo who developed innovative robots such as a rapping and a ballerina robot. The free, public event includes challenges that hone programming, logical reasoning, creativity, and teamwork skills. The OBR aims to democratize robotics education for children aged 6 to 19, fostering a passion for science and technology. Together, these initiatives illustrate Brazil’s commitment to integrating digital culture and technology into education, promoting pedagogical innovation and student engagement.
