On October 2, 2025, Brazilian officials underscored a national commitment to enhancing science and technology through various strategic partnerships at the 69th National Forum of the National Council of State Research Foundations (Confap). Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI), Luciana Santos, emphasized the role of science in bolstering national sovereignty and addressing urgent issues such as climate change and digital transformation. "We are on the side of science, which is the side of the Brazilian people," she stated, highlighting the need for collaboration between state and federal entities.

This commitment is further illustrated by the government's planned investment of R$ 13 million aimed at improving scientific indicators across the country. Santos detailed initiatives including the Pop Ciência program, which seeks to popularize science, and the Conhecimento Brasil initiative, targeting support for young researchers. Notably, the Centelha program has already mobilized over 26,000 innovative ideas, indicating a vibrant ecosystem for innovation.

In conjunction with these national efforts, the government of Mato Grosso do Sul has also made strides in enhancing its technological landscape. On the same day, they signed a historic Protocol of Intentions with the Hub Teia of Caixa Econômica Federal, marking a pioneering partnership aimed at strengthening research, innovation, and development within the state. Governor Eduardo Riedel and officials from the state’s Secretariat of Environment, Development, Science, Technology and Innovation joined other stakeholders in a bid to foster an entrepreneurial environment through collaborative efforts with Govtech startups and shared resources.

The partnership is seen as a unique opportunity to integrate government operations with emerging science and technology networks, enhancing local competitiveness and promoting a favorable business climate. State officials reaffirmed the importance of these collaborative initiatives, with Ricardo Senna, Executive Secretary of Science and Technology, highlighting the commitment to an ongoing innovation agenda.
