Brazil Emphasizes Women's Role in Science During 2026 National Week of Science and Technology

The 2026 National Week of Science and Technology (Semana Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia) in Brazil shines a spotlight on the vital contributions of women in science with the theme "Ciência Delas" (Science of Them). This year’s events focus on promoting and celebrating female researchers, educators, and professionals across various scientific and technological fields.

Instituto Federal do Amazonas (IFAM) Campus Parintins will host the 23rd National Week of Science and Technology from October 26 to 30. The program will feature scientific showcases, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, mini-courses, discussion circles, as well as cultural presentations and extension projects. Notably, a Special Session will highlight scientific works focused on gender and women's issues, fostering an exchange among researchers, students, and the wider community.

Meanwhile, Instituto Federal de Pernambuco (IFPE) Campus Afogados da Ingazeira has opened registrations for self-managed activities, set to run from November 9 to 13. Communities are invited to submit proposals for lectures, workshops, exhibitions, and artistic-cultural events by October 14. The organizing committee will review submissions to encourage active participation and highlight women's scientific involvement.

These initiatives aim to deepen dialogue on women's roles in science and technology, supporting the broader goal of promoting gender equality in knowledge production and innovation. As noted by organizers, this week-long series of events offers a platform to celebrate women’s journeys, research, and societal development contributions, engaging both the scientific community and the public.
