Women's football in Brazil is seeing remarkable growth in 2025, highlighted by a significant 41% increase in viewership for the Campeonato Brasileiro Feminino and upcoming initiatives aimed at further popularizing the sport.
The Campeonato Brasileiro Feminino Série A1 concluded with Corinthians winning the title, attracting an impressive 228,697 viewers during the final, which was broadcast nationally. In major urban centers such as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, the reach reached 152,039 individuals, resulting in a 0.13 average household audience rating. Overall, the tournament managed to capture over 3.6 million viewers, showcasing a significant increase from 2.7 million in 2024. According to Antonia Pellegrino, director of Content and Programming at EBC, this increased visibility underscores the importance of women's football. The average audience grew by 23% compared to the previous year, demonstrating a particular rise in interest in cities like the Federal District, with an 11% increase in household reach and a 16% growth in viewing time.
Adding to the excitement, Porto Alegre will host the "Caravana do Futebol Feminino" from October 6 to 12, aimed at promoting women's football across the country. This traveling exhibition, organized by the Porto Alegre City Hall in partnership with Petrobras, aims to engage young girls through interactive and immersive experiences, such as outdoor cinema, technology displays, and cultural presentations. Secretary Débora Garcia highlights the caravan's role in inspiring local youth, with about 400 students from various schools expected to attend and engage with the event's activities.
The caravan will travel to 24 municipalities across 12 states by year-end, further cementing the growing recognition of women's football in Brazil.
