Brazilian Military Sustains Major Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake-Hit Venezuela

Following the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026, the Brazilian military has mounted an extensive humanitarian operation to support the affected Venezuelan population. Since June 26, Brazil has mobilized 184 professionals, including medical staff and rescue teams from São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Paraná, to provide medical aid, logistical support, supply delivery, and rescue efforts in partnership with Venezuelan authorities and international response teams.

A key element of this mission is the field hospital established by the Brazilian Navy in La Guaira. Staffed by 99 personnel—including 43 healthcare professionals and 56 naval infantry—the hospital has conducted over 1,000 medical treatments and distributed more than 400 medications daily. It has also managed to stabilize eight critically ill patients, including some suffering suspected heart attacks. Importantly, the facility focuses exclusively on local Venezuelan victims and has not treated any Brazilian citizens.

The Brazilian Army has contributed significantly to relief efforts by distributing 10,000 food baskets, 10,000 liters of potable water, hygiene kits, mattresses, cleaning products, and various medications. The Brazilian Air Force has played an essential role, conducting at least five flights to transport military personnel, medical supplies, and equipment to the disaster zones.

Beyond medical and material aid, three specialized rescue teams have been deployed to work alongside Venezuelan and international responders to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive disaster response.
