Ceará experienced a robust 21% increase in new business registrations in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to data from the state's commercial board, Jucec. A total of 36,748 new companies were established, including micro-entrepreneurs, significantly outpacing the 30,371 openings in Q3 2024. The driving force behind this surge was the service sector, which saw an exceptional 33.1% growth, positioning it as the leading field for entrepreneurship in the state.

This growth is largely attributed to public policies aimed at simplifying the business registration process, particularly through the Empresa Mais Simples program. Launched in 2022 and currently adopted by 37 municipalities, this initiative digitizes and automates registrations, reducing bureaucratic barriers. Eduardo Jereissati, president of Jucec, noted that these de-bureaucratization efforts have freed entrepreneurs to focus on expanding their businesses.

The entrepreneurial spirit is also thriving among Ceará's youth, with 48,750 individuals aged 16 to 30 starting new ventures in 2025, representing a newer, connected generation embracing autonomy. Entrepreneur Breno Almeida, 29, exemplifies this trend, aiming to grow his mini market business inspired by his family's legacy. Additionally, events like the Feira do Empreendedor and Siará Tech Summit help foster innovation and business culture in the region.

The Jucec and state government remain committed to expanding the Empresa Mais Simples program to all municipalities to sustain this positive momentum and foster a modern, accessible business environment in Ceará.
