Finalists Named for Best Women's Coach Award in Brazilian Soccer

The finalists for the Best Coach award in Brazilian women's football were announced on October 20 as part of the 2026 TV Brasil Petrobras Para Elas ceremony. The nominees are Thiago Viana of São Paulo, Felipe Freitas of Bahia, and Fabi Guedes of Atlético-MG, recognized for their significant achievements this year.

Thiago Viana, managing São Paulo since 2023, holds the record for most matches coached at the club with 144 games. Under his guidance, São Paulo continues to compete for major trophies, currently facing Santos in a play-in for the Campeonato Paulista semifinals and maintaining a spot in the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals.

Felipe Freitas has led Bahia since 2024 and notably propelled the team to the semifinals of the Brasileirão for the second straight year. Bahia also secured a 2-1 victory over São Paulo in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals.

Fabi Guedes took over Atlético-MG in 2025 after experience as an assistant at Red Bull Bragantino. She successfully returned Atlético-MG to the Brasileirão’s top flight and ensured their survival in the league this season.

The voting panel included representatives from the top-tier women's clubs, with strict rules to avoid conflicts of interest. Winners will be revealed at the November 15 ceremony at São Paulo's Museu do Futebol. The event will also honor categories such as Best Player, Top Scorer, Best Goal, Best Women’s Football Department, and clubs promoting anti-violence initiatives in the women’s game.
