Grêmio Women's Football Team Kicks Off 2026 Pre-Season with Ambitious Plans

The Grêmio women's football team, known as the Mosqueteiras, officially began their 2026 pre-season on January 5 at the Ulbra Sports Complex. The launch event included attendance from key club leaders such as President Odorico Roman, Vice President of Football Antonio Dutra Junior, and the newly appointed directors of the Women’s Football Department, João Hermínio Marques and Fabrício Fontanella.

President Roman expressed the club’s commitment to enhancing the conditions and support for the women’s side. Dutra Junior emphasized managing the women’s team with the same structure and professionalism as the men’s team, signaling a strategic move toward equal treatment and integration. Marques highlighted the desire for more internal synergy between the women’s team and the broader club operations, while Fontanella underscored the goal of developing women’s football into a valuable asset for Grêmio.

Coach Cyro Leães encouraged the team to muster courage to elevate their presence and performance on the field. The coaching staff presented their comprehensive plan outlining training regimes and competitive objectives for the season.

The day was marked by extensive physical assessments including body composition and mobility tests to optimize player fitness as the team prepares to commence field training. A formal presentation of the squad and the new management setup is planned for a later date, reinforcing the club's forward-looking approach for the 2026 season.
