Innovation Day in Natal Highlights Strategies for Local Business Growth and Sustainability

The Innovation Day 2026 event held on February 15 at Teatro Riachuelo in Natal gathered around 1,500 entrepreneurs and experts to discuss innovation, competitiveness, and future business challenges in Brazil. Organized by Sistema Fecomércio RN as part of Semana S, the event focused on the economy, innovation, and tourism.

Keynote speaker Alexandre Schwartsman highlighted Brazil's fiscal challenges, emphasizing the need for strategies to reduce public debt and interest rates to stimulate economic activity. Panels addressed the impact of global economy and geopolitics on local businesses, tourism strategies underchanging consumer behavior, and the drive for digital transformation and artificial intelligence. Innovation expert Gil Giardelli stressed innovation's importance to overcoming business challenges, while parathlete entrepreneur Fernando Fernandes shared inspiring stories of adaptability and resilience.

In parallel, innovative initiatives like Professor Thales de Nascimento’s project in Serrinha, Bahia, were highlighted. His development of a paving block made from recycled paper and coconut fiber offers a cost-effective and more resistant alternative to conventional materials. This project integrates education, sustainability, and social impact, showcasing practical innovation driving local business development.
