The announcement came in a letter read by Flávio on December 25, just before Jair underwent hernia surgery in Brasília. Jair Bolsonaro is currently serving a prison sentence of 27 years and 3 months at the Federal Police headquarters in Brasília, where he penned the letter. In the letter, Jair expressed the urgency to preserve the voice of the people against “injustice” and described nominating Flávio as a conscious and legitimate decision “to rescue our Brazil.” He entrusted his son with the mission of continuing their political legacy and representing their supporters.
