Jundiaí Sees Significant Growth in Physical Retail Despite E-Commerce Surge

Jundiaí is witnessing robust growth in its local business sector with a notable 14.84% increase in registered businesses over the past year, rising from 11,896 to 13,662 between June 2025 and June 2026. This growth spans various city neighborhoods, including Sul and Oeste, which grew by 16.6% and 16% respectively, while the city center also saw a 10% rise.

Entrepreneur Tatiana Godoy exemplifies this trend; after decades as a store manager, she opened República das Gatas, her first women’s clothing store, motivated by a desire to balance work and family life. Her success led to opening two more stores in the revitalized city center, now branded “Centro da Gente,” which has attracted new restaurants and increased customer foot traffic, according to local resident Kerem Barros.

Tatiana highlights that e-commerce serves as a complement rather than a competitor to physical stores, as customers frequently use social media to inquire about products before visiting. Cida Gibrail, director of Commerce and Services, states that Jundiaí fosters an environment favorable to entrepreneurship by blending in-person services with digital opportunities. The municipality boasts 22,480 registered micro-entrepreneurs out of a total 87,882 active business registrations, showcasing a vibrant and growing economy poised for continued expansion in both physical retail and online sales.
