Major Sports Events in Brazil Set to Boost Tourism and Adventure Sports in September 2026

Brazil is gearing up for two significant sporting events in September 2026 that promise to showcase the nation's natural beauty while promoting tourism and local economic growth. From September 24 to 27, the Brazilian Wingfoil Championship, known as the Gostoso Wingfoil Cup, will be held in the coastal cities of Touros and São Miguel do Gostoso. The event will feature competitions in Race, Freestyle, and Wave categories, attracting athletes from various states and countries. Supported by the municipalities and sports organizations ABWing and CBVela, the championship aims to highlight the Potiguar coastline's consistent winds, fostering both sport and tourism in Northeast Brazil.

Earlier in the month, on September 12 and 13, Poços de Caldas will host the inaugural WTR Rota Vulcânica at Parque do Cristo. This new event focuses on trail running and mountain biking with multiple race categories, including a kids race, duathlon, and options for e-bikes. The event aligns with the rising trend of adventure sports in Brazil, offering athletes the opportunity to earn points toward the WTR Ranking with its 7,500 WTR score. Beyond the competitions, the Arena WTR will enhance visitor experience by providing entertainment, a food park, recovery sessions like cryotherapy, and engaging activities, all supported by the local government.
