Mayor Leandro Vilela Advances Science and Technology Services Improvements in Aparecida

Leandro Vilela, mayor of Aparecida de Goiânia, has initiated hands-on oversight of the Municipal Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation to elevate municipal services. Following a major financial restructuring that repaid over R$ 300 million in debt from the previous administration, Vilela’s 2025 priority is refining service quality and operational efficiency.

During his visit, accompanied by key secretaries, Vilela inspected the department responsible for maintaining 750 kilometers of fiber optic networks and over 500 surveillance cameras — 340 of which were inactive due to lack of investment under the former administration. Efforts are underway to reactivate these cameras and integrate health unit surveillance footage into the Municipal Security Secretariat’s monitoring system, enhancing public safety.

Additionally, to ensure uninterrupted connectivity in health facilities, a contract for radio internet backup is being developed to serve during fiber optic outages. This initiative supports continuous health service operations.

Deputy Secretaries praised Vilela’s direct engagement with technical teams, noting the morale boost and improved alignment with strategic goals. The administration’s shift toward sustained presence in operational decisions aims to identify inefficiencies rapidly and optimize resource allocation, delivering more consistent and higher quality services to residents.
