In Paraíba, 58.7% of small business owners have incomplete higher education or more, placing the state third nationally for entrepreneurs with higher education, behind only Rio de Janeiro (62.8%) and the Federal District (61.2%). The data, analyzed by Sebrae from the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) between 2012 and 2024, highlights that education correlates strongly with income among entrepreneurs in the region. While 29% of Paraíba's business owners have completed high school and 12.4% have not completed it, those with higher education generally earn above two minimum wages. In contrast, entrepreneurs with only a high school diploma earn between half and two minimum wages, and those with incomplete elementary schooling earn up to half a salary. Humara Medeiros, manager of Sebrae's Entrepreneurial Education Unit in Paraíba, emphasized that continuous education and academic knowledge are critical for business growth and better outcomes. This trend showcases the importance of educational attainment in fostering successful entrepreneurship within Paraíba's robust small business sector.
