Northern Brazil Judicial Event Highlights Ouvidorias' Role in Combating Harassment

The IV Encontro de Ouvidoras e Ouvidores Judiciais da Região Norte was held at the Tribunal de Justiça do Tocantins, concluding on August 28, 2026. This regional meeting brought together judicial ombudsmen from Northern Brazil, fostering integration and the exchange of practices related to ouvidorias, the key institutional channels for listening and support within the judiciary.

Organized in partnership with the Escola Superior da Magistratura Tocantinense (ESMAT), the event focused on enhancing the relationship between the judiciary and the population, emphasizing accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in judicial services. A standout moment was the keynote by Marcello Terto, a councilor from the Conselho Nacional de Justiça (CNJ), who highlighted the ouvidorias’ proactive role in ensuring qualified listening and serving as crucial allies in the fight against harassment.

Central to discussions was CNJ’s Resolution No. 351/2020, which addresses harassment policies and strengthens the position of ouvidorias as welcoming points for victims seeking support. Attendees shared best practices aimed at improving victim assistance and judicial responsiveness.
