On October 6, vendors at the Varejão São Jorge in Piracicaba received tailored guidance on accessing credit and supporting services designed for small businesses. This event, organized by the Prefeitura de Piracicaba through its Municipal Secretariat of Labor, Employment, and Income alongside Banco do Povo Paulista and Sebrae Aqui, aims to bring resources directly to local entrepreneurs. Vendors, like Iara Aparecida Stoco and Ricardo Rodrigues Ribeiro, praised the initiative for making credit information accessible and saving them time by assisting them at their workplaces.
In parallel, a broader challenge for small and micro enterprises (MPEs) in Brazil remains their limited adoption of digital solutions, with only 23% utilizing structured technology for business management. According to Alinne Rech, Digital Services analyst at Sebrae, this gap hampers competitiveness amid modern consumer demands for quick service and online presence. Sebrae's Conecta platform, which has already supported about 1.3 million businesses from 2024 to 2026, offers MPEs access to over 60 partner companies and diverse digital tools—available with discounts—to facilitate their transition from manual to digital operations.
These complementary efforts underline Piracicaba’s commitment to strengthen local vendors’ business capabilities by improving both their financial support access and digital competitiveness. The Prefeitura plans to continue these outreach efforts, with upcoming visits scheduled for other Varejões such as Paulista on October 28.
