Two students from Pimenta Bueno, Rondônia, Nethelly Boritza and Jhennifer Delmonico, are representing the state at the XVI Science, Engineering, and Technology Fair (Fetec/MS) held from October 18 to 21, 2026, in Campo Grande. They are presenting their project "EcoDigestor," a biodigester developed under the guidance of their teacher, Priscila Pomini. This opportunity follows their first-place victory at the II Science, Innovation, and Educational Technology Fair of Rondônia (Expocitec-RO), organized by the State Department of Education (Seduc).
Governor Marcos Rocha highlighted the significance of promoting research and innovation within state schools, stating that it is essential for enhancing student engagement and broadening academic opportunities. He emphasized the role of these fairs in fostering creativity and linking academic knowledge to societal challenges. Massud Badra, head of Seduc, further noted that science fairs are important in recognizing the dedication of students and teachers while encouraging investigation and innovative solutions.
The Fetec/MS event, organized by the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), provides a platform for students to exchange ideas and present their findings to peers, educators, and researchers, thus enriching their experience in scientific knowledge production and dissemination. Through their participation, these Rondônia students are contributing to the vibrant culture of youth innovation and scientific inquiry in Brazil.
