The 2025 National Week of Science and Technology (SNCT) in Brazil is marked by special events emphasizing climate awareness through ocean culture, with activities held in Salvador and Paraíba. In Salvador, on October 5, the Largo do Farol da Barra hosted an all-day event featuring interactive scientific exhibitions and workshops focused on the theme "Planet Water: Ocean Culture to Face Climate Change in My Territory." Organized by the Bahia Department of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Secti), the event showcased domes with student and researcher projects, alongside immersive experiences at the Nautical Museum of Bahia. Secti Secretary Marcius Gomes stressed the significance of integrating science into daily life across Bahia’s diverse regions. Partner institutions supporting the event included state secretariats, the Brazilian Navy's 2nd Naval District Command, and the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) (Source 127762).
Concurrently in João Pessoa, Paraíba's 22nd SNCT event ran until November 1, hosted at the José Lins do Rêgo Cultural Space. The Paraíba Secretary of Science, Technology, Innovation and Higher Education (Secties) presented their initiatives in collaboration with the Paraíba Research Support Foundation (Fapesq-PB). Operational manager Gabriela Brito highlighted efforts to make science accessible beyond academia, engaging the public through a stand and events aligned with the "Orgulho Nerd" pop culture festival. Notably, a Robotics Showcase featured innovative projects by students across educational levels. Activities also included crafts, karaoke, board games, hackathons, cosplay parades, voice actors, and geek merchandise, further promoting science popularization with younger audiences (Source 127764).
These simultaneous events reflect a comprehensive approach to raising climate change awareness in Brazil through science, technology, and ocean culture, fostering community engagement from diverse sectors and age groups.
