Ceará has experienced a remarkable increase in entrepreneurial activity in 2025, with 117,398 new businesses established between January 1 and October 15, representing a 29.3% rise compared to 90,764 in the same period in 2024. According to the Junta Comercial do Estado do Ceará (Jucec), the services sector was the primary growth driver, with a 37.6% increase to 80,678 new businesses. The commerce sector expanded by 16.8%, adding 28,866 new establishments, and the industrial sector grew by 6% with 7,854 new companies.

Eduardo Jereissati, Jucec's president, credited this surge to governmental efforts focused on simplifying and digitalizing the business registration process. Entrepreneurs in Ceará can now open businesses entirely online, benefiting from streamlined procedures and enhanced digital integration. Jucec has enhanced its Service Portal and partnered with municipalities and licensing agencies to enable business openings within hours. This is part of the state's broader strategy for desburocratization and digital transformation aimed at fostering a more accessible and efficient business environment.

Jereissati emphasized that reducing bureaucratic barriers is vital for economic growth, noting each new formal business creates opportunities for income, employment, and local development.
