Barreiras Futebol Clube Returns to Professional Football with Full Safety Preparations at Estádio Geraldão

After over two decades away from professional competition, Barreiras Futebol Clube is set to make a significant comeback in the Campeonato Baiano Série B. Their debut match is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at 4 PM, at the Estádio Municipal Geraldo Pereira, also known as Geraldão. This return marks a major milestone for the city of Barreiras and its football community.

Estádio Geraldão has successfully passed all safety and technical inspections required to host the series, with certifications granted by bodies such as Health Surveillance, the Military Police, and the Fire Department. The stadium, which can hold 4,288 spectators, will limit attendance to 3,000 to ensure safety. Gate opening is set for 2 PM, with tickets priced at R$ 40 for full admission and R$ 20 for half-price.

The stadium underwent extensive renovations, featuring modernized seating and improved lighting, making it a premier sports venue in Bahia. Security protocols for the match include restrictions such as selling drinks only in disposable cups and banning dangerous items, coordinated by local authorities including the Municipal Secretary of Citizen Security and Traffic, Fábio Santana.

Barreiras will face Camaçari in their inaugural match of the tournament, which features ten teams competing in a round-robin format with the top four advancing to the semifinals. Secretary of Sports Balthazar Guimarães emphasized the thorough preparations undertaken to ensure a safe and successful event.
