The women's football team from the Nova Era neighborhood in Cáceres has reached the final of the 2026 Taça das Favelas, a significant state-level tournament organized by the Central Única das Favelas de Mato Grosso (CUFA-MT). The final match is set for October 31 at Estádio Dito Souza in Cuiabá, where Cáceres will face off against the Altos da Boa Vista team.
Under the leadership of Coach Adilson Conceição, who recently earned his coaching license from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), the Cáceres squad has demonstrated strong performance throughout the competition. The team comprises 25 members, including players and support staff, supported logistically by the municipal government of Cáceres.
Cristiano Neves, Municipal Secretary of Sports and Leisure, expressed pride in the team's accomplishments and emphasized their role in representing the city. Coach Conceição highlighted the team's unity and dedication, appreciating the support they've received to compete effectively. While a national stage of the Taça das Favelas will be held in November in Curitiba, state champions do not automatically qualify; instead, a national selection will be assembled from the best players across the tournament.
This development underscores the growing prominence and support for women's football at the community and state levels in Brazil, reflecting broader efforts to foster athletic opportunities and recognition for female athletes.
