João Pessoa Hosts Regional Robotics Tournament for Young Students while Samsung Ocean Offers Free Tech Courses

João Pessoa is currently hosting a regional stage of the FIRST LEGO League Explore, an international robotics competition for children aged 6 to 10. The event, held at the Centro Escolar Municipal de Atividades Pedagógicas Integradoras (CEMAPI) in the Mangabeira neighborhood, features 185 students forming 43 teams from local municipal schools. These young participants develop projects using LEGO pieces and programming skills to address the theme “Unearthed,” which focuses on archaeology and technology. Teams such as Aruanda Cyber Kids and Lubotics are innovating with projects like a 3D archaeological scanner and ground-penetrating radar technology solutions. The competition not only fosters creativity and technical skills but also emphasizes cooperation, inclusion, and conflict resolution from an early age. The event expects around 700 attendees, including families and visitors, showcasing an active engagement in STEM education in Brazil’s Northeast.

In parallel, Samsung Ocean has launched its August agenda of free technology courses and workshops, available to individuals over 18 across Brazil. Collaborating with universities like USP, UEA, and UnB, Samsung’s program offers remote and in-person sessions on topics including 3D printing, artificial intelligence, programming (Python and Scratch), Internet of Things (IoT), data science for digital health, and entrepreneurship. Eduardo Conejo, Samsung Brazil’s Director of Innovation in Research and Development, highlighted the initiative's mission to democratize access to technological knowledge and stimulate innovation nationwide. Participants receive certificates upon completion, and registration is open through Samsung Ocean’s website or app. Together, these initiatives represent a concerted effort to promote science and technology education among both young learners and adults in Brazil.
