Rio Innovation Week 2026 Spotlights Diversity and Collaboration as Engines of Innovation

The sixth edition of Rio Innovation Week (RIW) is set to take place from August 4 to 7, 2026, at Pier Mauá in Rio de Janeiro, uniting science, technology, business, and culture under the theme "Symbiosis – the future does not happen in isolation." The event emphasizes that innovation requires collaboration across knowledge fields and economic sectors to address global challenges and craft future solutions.

Jerônimo Vargas, the event’s creator and general director, has highlighted RIW’s expansion as evidence of Rio de Janeiro’s growing status as a global hub for creativity, technology, and business.

RIW 2026 is poised to attract approximately 180,000 attendees, including 2,000 startups and hundreds of exhibitors. The conference expects to generate R$ 4 billion in business and create around 22,000 direct and indirect jobs. Its extensive program features 16 thematic tracks and nearly 40 stages covering pivotal topics such as artificial intelligence, social innovation, and the future of work.

Notable speakers include Nobel laureates Malala Yousafzai and Edvard Moser, Brazilian scientist Tatiana Sampaio, and indigenous activist Txai Suruí. The event will also explore creativity, identity, and social transformation with contributions from writers and artists.

The Startup Program has expanded significantly, fostering closer collaboration between researchers and industry, with involvement from over 50 Venture Capital firms. For the first time, the RIW will host the International Forum on Aerospace Business and the Cocreators Conference on the Creative Economy, linking small influencers with major brands and underscoring technology’s foundational role in societal development.

Fábio Queiróz, co-founder of the Innovation Week platform, emphasized that "innovation and technology are now central to societal development," reinforcing the event’s theme that "significant advancements cannot be achieved in isolation."
