Lower Inflation Projections Arrive as BNDES Boosts Credit Opportunities for Brazilian Small Businesses

Brazil’s small business sector is poised to benefit from a more optimistic inflation outlook for 2025, alongside fresh credit opportunities from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). According to the latest Boletim Focus report released on October 13, inflation expectations have dipped to 4.72% for the year 2025, down from earlier projections of 4.83%. This outlook approaches the fiscal target ceiling of 3% plus a 1.5% tolerance, signaling a more stable economic environment. The price reductions, particularly a consistent decline in food prices over four months—0.35% in September and 0.53% in August—contribute positively to consumer purchasing power. Décio Lima, president of Sebrae, highlighted the pivotal role of small businesses, which generate over 80% of jobs in Brazil, in fostering economic opportunity and income distribution. He attributed this positive shift to the effective economic policies led by President Lula and Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, emphasizing income distribution as a core focus.
